FPS’S FCU IN ACTION ON THE VOYAGER

FPS Systemcare Manager Craig Wray says the Voyager hydraulic system must be kept very clean as it has minimal filtration and any dirt inside the loop will generate more.

“We check the oil, and other parts of the system, on a trip by trip basis, whenever the vessel is back in port. It’s a pretty advanced piece of kit. We can monitor the results live via our phone, which pulls up a graph with all the information.”

 Craig says this type of work is becoming a larger part of FPS’s business as customers want to know that their oil is clean.

“If you monitor your oil regularly you can get a much longer life out of it, instead of the
added cost of replacing it regularly just as a precautionary measure. Actually that applies for everything in the system.”
