FPS contributes to essential dam for Nelson Tasman region

FPS was commissioned by Waimea Water Limited to connect the grate winch on the dam crest winch platform on the downstream side of the Waimea Community Dam – the largest dam built in New Zealand in over 20 years.

This winch is responsible for lifting up the grate that prevents debris intake in front of the dispersing valves. FPS supplied not only the people power for the job, but also the hose, fittings and custom pipe work required to install the hydraulic winch.

This wasn’t the only instance FPS was able to support Waimea Water on the dam site before the final mechanical elements were commissioned in July 2024. Contractors for the site also had the FPS team up there to help repair one of the cranes doing some of the heavy lifting early on in the project.

FPS is proud to have contributed to the construction of this essential infrastructure, which now provides much-needed water security to the Nelson Tasman region.
